Better transport Cache County

We're Cache County residents working together with experts to improve transportation in the valley -- supporting better public transit, reduced traffic, safe streets, and more choices for getting around, while helping our communities become better connected, healthier, and more resilient.

Building support systems

Cache Valley public health

This group will advocate for optimizing public health services, most urgently, but not limited to, nutritional support, medical and mental health needs, and immunizations in Cache Valley. Efforts to cut services especially for children, pregnant women, the infirm, and the elderly will be confronted.

Civic voice

We are a nonpartisan group focused on helping individuals learn how to communicate effectively with elected officials. This includes everything from brief, written communications to in-person lobbying. We conduct trainings and provide tools and support to amplify public voices in policymaking at all levels of government.

Combating anti-science rhetoric

The Combating Antiscience Rhetoric group empowers scientists and allies to respond to misinformation by writing letters to the editor of local newspapers that defend science and promote public trust.

Communications and Alert Network (CAN)

Our purpose is the establishment of a community network that provides information for emergency and urgent actions and connects members and at-risk populations with critical resources.

Countering mis/disinformation

We will gather research-based strategies to help people A. Identify mis/disinformation, B. Collaborate and effectively seek more accurate information on polarized issues, C. Offer effective communication skills for difficult conversations.

Disability

The Disability Action Group works to encourage our elected officials to uphold the standards set by the ADA and 504 acts to provide accessibility to our governmental buildings and on government funded roads, sidewalks, and other communal spaces.

Education

As part of Community Action in Education our group focuses on partnering with schools to uplift student voices, advocate for equity, and ensure every student feels seen, supported, and a true sense of belonging in education.

Environment

This group explores how environmental issues affect every aspect of our lives - from public health and food systems to economic well-being and community resilience. We're organizing sub-groups to work on major environmental challenges at three levels: global, Utah, Cache Valley. We aim to raise awareness, shift perspectives, and connect the dots between environmental change and the everyday concerns of our neighbors.

Federal

The purpose and intent of the Federal working group is to engage and inform, across myriad platforms and media, on issues of national importance, particularly with regard to abuse of power, corruption and efforts to undermine long-held and time-honored American values.

GRAMA requests

We empower residents to use GRAMA (Government Records Access and Management Act) requests to promote transparency and accountability in local and state government. We can provide information, workshops, and hands-on support, to help people understand their right to access public records and how to use that right to inform action and strengthen democracy.

Talking across the political spectrum

The founders of our nation warned us against partisanship but we all have experienced the impacts of division in our families and communities. This group aims to promote mutual understanding in our communities, our work lives, and in broader society. We have to want to get along if we're to have any chance of a future together.
