"Farewell Reading and Celebration of the Logan River Walk with Shanan Ballam"
Please join us on Thursday, September 18th at 6:00 pm at Rendezvous Park (the dog park next to the Logan River)... for a commemorative reading and a short walk on the Logan River Trail with Shanan Ballam, our retiring Poet Laureate.
Shanan will read "Guide to the Logan River Trail, iFIT Parking Lot to Trapper Park” — an image-vibrant poem that celebrates the river, the trail and the myriad wonders of nature that can be seen along the way. Participants will receive a copy of the poem, and it will later be inscribed on a permanent marker to guide the eyes of all who walk the trail.
Hilary Shughart of Bridgerland Audubon will introduce Shanan and make remarks.
Persons with disabilities are especially welcome as the wide, smooth trail is ADA compliant. It's one of trails on which Shanan walked her way into better health after suffering a major stroke. We'll celebrate that too!
For many, this may be their last chance to see Shanan and hear her read. She and her husband will be moving to Maine in October.
Farewell to the River, the River Trail, and our Poet Laureate — may she thrive in her new environment!
