Healthcare changes, 287(g) impacts, and local public works
Our community is working hard to keep track of all that's in flux, from the local to the national.
The Migrant Support action group has put together an overview of the history and impacts of the 287(g) program, which allows the Department of Homeland Security to partner with state and local law enforcement agencies to enforce federal immigration laws.
Dr. Jänecke has written a detailed report of the Logan River Watershed Project and the culinary water project (water tank), including the measures that must be taken to enact these public works safely and respectfully.
Many of us will be affected by the weakening of federal health insurance programs stipulated by the 2025 Budget Reconciliation Law. In part, this law aims to reduce participation in Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act by adding hurdles that catch beneficiaries off-guard. So, be aware of the hurdles and when they will be implemented.
